This site has been developed to share information generated during the 5 Year Review of the Tongass Forest Plan conducted in 2004. Policy and regulation require each national forest to review their Forest Plan every 5 years. This page provides an overview of the 5 Year Review process and findings. Note how the site is linked on the left portion of your screen to facilitate easy navigation.
The Approach section gives an overview of how the Forest Plan 5 Year Review was conducted. It describes how Forest Plan-related concerns were identified and how those potential concerns were analyzed.
The Determination section includes a variety of information related to management of various programs and activities on the Tongass National Forest. This section concludes with an overall determination as to whether the conditions on the Tongass National Forest or demands of the public have changed significantly since 1997.
The Newsroom section includes news releases and other information specific to the Forest Plan 5 Year Review.
